Designer's FAQ
Hello! Below are some questions I have been compiling while working with potential designers that you might find helpful. If you have additional questions that are not addressed below, please reach out.
What kind of patterns do you offer on your site?
I'm currently only offering DIGITAL independent designer's sewing patterns, either it be for garment making or accessories.
Users will notice that some patterns can be purchased right off the website and some will have links that redirect to the pattern maker's website. Although I try to keep consistency on user experience, I a finding myself building different types of relationships (currently reseller and affiliate) - all in the name of building the extensive pattern database.
What's the commission percentage?
I follow the industry standard of 50% commission for reseller sales.
How do you select designer's for your site?
My goal is to build a database with all independent patterns available on the web. Hence, there will be no selection of designers. However, users will be able to leave reviews, which will be helpful for other users when contemplating which patterns to purchase.
How long will it take to onboard a new designer?
Onboarding a pattern designer should take 1 business day. However, uploading the patterns will depend on two factors: how many patterns are to upload and who is doing the uploading. Pattern Makers can upload their patterns directly through the Designer Portal, in which case onboarding the patterns really depends on the Designer. Alternatively, I can upload the patterns on behalf of the pattern maker, in which case I strive to upload all files within 2-3 business days after access to files have been granted.
How will designers know what's been downloaded to reconcile with payouts?
Designers will have access to a portal where patterns and pictures can be uploaded and edited. Pattern makers will also be able to view and track sales from the website via real time reports in the portal. In addition to this tool, I will be sending pattern makers monthly sales summaries during payout week.
What happens if the designer introduces an updated version of the pattern file?
When we receive the updated version of the pattern, we will replace it with the current upload. Customers that have previously purchased the pattern can use the email link to download the updated version at no extra cost. Alternatively, customers with an account can log into the site and in their Orders section, will also be able to download the new file without additional cost.
How are you drive traffic to the site?
In addition to social media advertising (Instagram and Facebook), traffic will also be driven with guest blogger posts, endorsements, rewards program and word of mouth.
